Defining functional requirements for object controllers

As a further elaboration of the technology of the Railway 4.0 Concept in the form of a bachelor thesis (available here), object controllers and their individual components were defined in more detail. The basic architecture of the object controllers was proposed. Object controllers consist of:

  • Logic Controller (LC) – universal programmable logic unit with input/output (I/O)
  • Standard Communication Interface (SCI) – the communication interface to the integral safety device, defined by the EULYNX initiative
  • Control Interface (CI) – a specific interface allowing unified control of an external element by a logic controller
  • Power supply (PWR)
Object controller

Furthermore, the functional requirements for the control interface to the peripherals of the signalling system were developed on the basis of the analysis of the current field elements of the signalling system. The functional requirements define the communication interfaces, inputs and outputs, as well as the power supply and, if necessary, the necessary internal logic of the OC. The functional requirements are defined for these control interfaces of the object controllers:

  • OCN – object controller of the signal
  • OCP – object controller of the point
  • OCZ – object controller of level crossing
The functional requirements are described in more detail in this bachelor thesis.
